This is a real outreach that is making a real difference in the lives of young people and children in Haiti. New Hope for Haiti was started by New Hope Baptist Church in Fayetteville GA. They have been working with a particular church and orphanage in Haiti for the last six years. This mission is proven. There are over one hundred and fifty children receiving care, lodging and an education through this ministry.

GRM’s involvement started after the earthquake in January of 2010. The nation was devastated by the worst natural disaster in history for Haiti. Hundreds of thousands were killed and traumatized by the quake. Rumble filled the streets of Puerto Prince at the epicenter of the earthquake. I was contacted by Rhodena Buck who is the team leader for the mission. She has been working extensively for the past five years to improve the lives of the children.  I was contacted to provide ministry services around the trauma issues and fear issues as a result of the shock.

We traveled to Haiti and ministered for five days walking the children and young people through their very present pain and emotional suffering. A very deep bond occurred between me and children and their workers. I felt very strongly that I was to get involved in helping them on a regular basis.

We are creating a mentoring program for them. This program will empower the older young people to grow in Christ and prepare for their future. Many of them have no hope in tomorrow. But we know that with Christ all things are possible. We will be using materials and one-on-one relationship efforts to mentor them and disciple the young people. Our hope is that as they grow that they will offer the same to other younger children in the orphanage.
